Do Blumix cleaners kill germs? Are they antibacterial or disinfecting?

Blumix cleaners are very effective at cleaning dirt, grease, and grime, but it’s important to note they are not classified as EPA-registered disinfectants. Our formulas do include natural ingredients (like citrus essential oils) that have some mild antibacterial properties so they will remove a good amount of common household germs when you clean. However, they don’t contain harsh synthetic disinfectants like bleach or alcohol, and we don’t make specific “kills 99.9% of bacteria/viruses” claims. For everyday cleaning of countertops, sinks, etc., Blumix will leave surfaces fresh and clean without any toxic residue.

For example, our Multi-Surface Cleaner tablets use gentle cleansers (like sodium carbonate, citric acid, etc.) and natural essential oils for fragrance. Rest assured, all our formulas are designed to be safe for your home and family when used as directed. Of course, as with all cleaning supplies, it’s best to keep the concentrated tablets and sheets out of reach of children and pets – the tablets are brightly colored but should not be ingested or handled by little ones. Once diluted and in use, our cleaners and hand soaps are gentle and non-hazardous. We always recommend supervising children during cleaning and storing all products safely. If you ever have any concerns, don’t hesitate to ask or consult your vet/pediatrician, but we’ve formulated everything to be family-friendly.

Our packaging is 100% plastic-free, and our formulas are non-toxic, so they won’t pollute waterways. By removing water and excess packaging, Blumix products are lighter and reduce transport emissions by up to 98%. In short, every time you refill with Blumix instead of buying a new plastic bottle, you’re helping eliminate plastic waste and lower your carbon footprint – without compromising on cleaning power.

How do Blumix refill products work? Do I need special bottles?

Using Blumix is super easy – just add water! For our cleaning tablets, you can use any clean reusable spray bottle (around 16–17 oz is ideal). Fill it with warm water, drop in a tablet, and let it dissolve (about 10–30 minutes depending on temperature). Once dissolved, put the spray nozzle on and you have a full bottle of cleaner ready to go.For our foaming hand soap tablets, use a foaming soap dispenser (our starter kit includes a lovely 8.5 oz glass one, but you can use your own as well). Fill it with warm water, drop in a soap tablet, and in 25–30 minutes you’ll have rich, foaming hand wash.For the laundry detergent sheets, there’s no bottle needed – simply toss a sheet directly into your washing machine with your clothes (1 sheet per full load, or half a sheet for small loads). The sheet will dissolve in the wash, releasing detergent. No measuring or mess required at all! Using your own bottles and our refills is a great way to reduce waste. Just make sure any bottle you use is thoroughly rinsed out before mixing a new solution, for best results.
